I continue to work on the site in my spare time. It is coming along quickly. I prefer the simple style for a number of reasons, but most importantly it’s ability to render in smartphones quickly.
A simple style can draw the viewer in quickly as they are not distracted by too much going on. A good page layout can work by letting the viewer find things quickly and easily, navigate to what they are looking for, and get what they visited the site for to begin with.
The current theme I’m using renders extremely well in my BlackBerry, it loads very quickly and looks fantastic compared to other sites viewed on it. Unless you use Opera Mini, or have a large screen smartphone browser, websites can look horrible, a real mess. Even on a newer smartphones, cluttered or busy-looking sites do not look good.
This can be a huge advantage and should be considered during the first stages of web design. Mobile users are the fastest growing market right now. The ability to get information to this market should be a priority for anyone.
