FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do I need to buy commercial Internet connections?
A: No!  Your hosting provider should provide a carrier grade connection to the Internet for your website.

Q: Will my website require a “dedicated server”?
A: No! Most small businesses and organizations can run web sites through a hosting provider that uses ‘shared servers’.  Businesses that require dedicated servers employ their own internal IT departments or contract out to very large hosting corporations.

Q: How do ‘shared servers’ work?
A: Shared servers use “Virtual Machine” software to create many ‘virtual’ servers on one machine.  This technology allows for a larger server to perform as many smaller servers, one of those servers will run your web site.

Q: Will my web site and data be safe?
A: Yes!  Your VM server runs in what is called a “jailed environment”, it is completely separate and secure from the other servers on that machine.  Data is routinely backed up for quick recovery in the event of failure.

Q: Do I have to manage everything on the site?
A: You can do as much as you like or you can let us do all the work.  Once  the site is set up you can have control or we can manage it for you.
